‘’Soil-Friendly Projects” 🌱

The fourth day of the “Environmentalist in the Virtual Universe” Erasmus+ project focused on teamwork, creativity, and research. During a 60-minute activity titled “Soil-Friendly Projects,” students explored the important elements that make soil healthy and productive.

Participants were divided into three groups, each representing a different “soil hero” responsible for protecting and enriching the soil ecosystem.

Group 1 – Team Minerals 🪨

The first group, Team Minerals, focused on the role of minerals in soil. Students researched how minerals influence soil structure, nutrient availability, and plant growth.

During their short presentation, they introduced their “superhero” representing minerals and explained how these elements support plants by providing essential nutrients and helping maintain soil balance.

Group 2 – Team Critter 🐛

The second group, Team Critter, explored the fascinating world of living organisms in the soil. Their research focused on creatures such as worms, insects, and microorganisms that play a key role in maintaining soil health.

Students explained how these small but powerful organisms help break down organic matter, improve soil aeration, and support nutrient cycling. Their superhero symbolized the invisible workers that keep soil alive.

Group 3 – The Compost 🌿

The third group, The Compost, focused on organic matter and its importance for soil fertility. Students researched how compost enriches the soil, improves its structure, and helps retain water and nutrients.

In their presentation, they introduced a superhero representing compost and organic materials, showing how natural recycling processes help create healthy and sustainable soil ecosystems.

Presentations and Knowledge Sharing 📊

Each group spent 40 minutes researching their topic and preparing their ideas. Afterwards, they presented their five-minute presentations, introducing their soil superhero, its characteristics, and its positive impact on soil health.

Module on Sustainable Agriculture 🌾

The day concluded with a short presentation on the “Module on Sustainable Agriculture.”
The presentation was prepared by the teachers and presented by students Jana and Andrej.

They explained the basic principles of sustainable farming, highlighting practices that protect soil, support biodiversity, and ensure long-term food production while minimizing environmental impact.

Learning Through Collaboration 🤝

Day 4 allowed students to deepen their understanding of soil ecosystems while developing research, presentation, and teamwork skills. By discovering the different “heroes” that protect soil — minerals, living organisms, and organic matter — participants learned that healthy soil depends on a balanced and interconnected system.

The activities reminded everyone that protecting soil is not only the responsibility of scientists or farmers — it is a shared responsibility for all of us. 🌍🌱

Day 3 ‘

Day 3

‘’Exploring Soil in Practice🌱🔬

The third day of the “Environmentalist in the Virtual Universe” Erasmus+ project combined creativity, fieldwork, and scientific exploration. Students had the opportunity not only to continue their reflections on soil sustainability but also to observe, collect, and analyze soil in a real environment.

Theatre at the Monastery 🎭

The day began with a short improvisation inspired by the activities from Day 2. Students performed small theatrical scenes based on the workshop “The Voice of the Soil.”

This time, the performances took place in the unique surroundings of the Monastery “St. Nikita.” The natural environment added a special atmosphere to the activity and helped participants connect even more deeply with the topic of nature and soil protection.

Through acting and improvisation, students once again gave a voice to the soil, farmers, and environmental heroes, reminding everyone how important responsible land use is for the future of our planet.

Collecting Soil Samples 🧪

After the creative part of the day, the group moved on to a hands-on scientific activity. Together with the biology teacher, students collected soil samples from different locations around the area.

Each sample was placed in a small bottle, carefully labeled, and prepared for further analysis. This activity helped students understand that soil can vary significantly depending on location, vegetation, and human activity.

Measuring Soil pH 🔬

The next step was to analyze the collected samples using a device that measures the pH value of soil. Students learned how soil acidity or alkalinity can influence plant growth, nutrient availability, and overall soil fertility.

By testing the samples themselves, participants could directly see how scientific tools help us better understand the health of our environment.

Educational Presentation 📊

To deepen students’ knowledge, the biology and geography teachers prepared a short presentation about:

  • soil fertility,
  • factors affecting soil quality,
  • and the importance of sustainable agriculture.

The presentation highlighted how responsible farming practices can protect soil resources and ensure long-term food production.

Soil Sustainability Quiz 🌍

The final activity of the day involved technology and interactive learning. Students scanned a digital calculator tool with questions about soil sustainability, prepared by a specialist from the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

By answering the questions, participants could test their knowledge and reflect on what they had learned throughout the project activities.

Learning by Doing

Day 3 showed that environmental education is most effective when students can combine creativity, science, and real-world experience. From theatre performances to scientific measurements, each activity helped participants better understand the vital role soil plays in sustaining life on Earth.

It was a day full of discovery, cooperation, and inspiration — reminding us that protecting soil begins with knowledge, awareness, and everyday choices. 🌍🌱

Day 2

Day 2

“The Voice of the Soil.”

The second day of our Erasmus+ project was dedicated to a creative and thought-provoking workshop called “The Voice of the Soil.” 🎭
The main goal of the activity was to help participants better understand the importance of soil sustainability and the role soil plays in the environment. Instead of traditional lessons, we explored this topic through theatre, improvisation, creativity, and teamwork.

At the beginning of the workshop, participants were divided into four international groups 🤝. Each group received a different task related to soil and environmental protection. Our challenge was to create a short performance and present the topic in an interesting and engaging way.

🌱 The Soil Speaks

The first group prepared a performance called “The Soil Speaks.” Each participant represented a different element of the soil, such as clay, sand, humus, pebbles, or microorganisms.

Through improvisation, they imagined how the soil would sound if it could talk to humans. The scene showed what the soil might ask from people and how it reacts when it becomes polluted, damaged, or neglected. The performance helped us realize how essential healthy soil is for plants, animals, and the entire ecosystem.

🚜 Farmers and Citizens

The second group created a short play titled “Farmers and Citizens.” Their scene showed a conflict between two different approaches to agriculture.

On one side, there were farmers using intensive farming methods and pesticides to increase production quickly. On the other side, citizens and environmentalists supported organic and sustainable farming. Through dialogue and improvisation, the group presented the clash between economic profit and environmental responsibility. In the end, the characters tried to find a balanced solution that would protect both farmers and nature.

🌪️ The Scene of the Disaster

The third group presented a dramatic performance called “The Scene of the Disaster.” Their play showed the serious consequences of ignoring soil protection.

They illustrated environmental problems such as erosion, floods, desertification, and food shortages. The performance showed how human activities can damage soil and lead to global environmental challenges. At the end, the actors asked the audience an important question:
“What could we have done differently?”
🤔
This encouraged everyone to reflect on our responsibility for the planet.

🦸‍♂ Soil Heroes

The fourth group introduced a creative and humorous performance titled “Soil Heroes.” The students invented imaginative superheroes whose mission was to protect the soil.

In their play, the heroes fought against villains such as Enemy Pollution and Mr. Concrete, who were trying to destroy the natural environment. Despite the humorous tone, the message was very clear: everyone can become a hero by protecting nature and making responsible choices.

💬 Reflection and Discussion

Each group presented their performance for about five minutes. After all the plays, we had a joint discussion about what we had learned during the workshop.

We talked about why protecting soil is essential for food production, ecosystems, and climate balance. We also discussed how our everyday actions—such as supporting sustainable agriculture, reducing pollution, and caring for the environment—can make a real difference.

Day 2 showed us that learning about environmental issues does not always have to happen through lectures or presentations. Creativity, theatre, and collaboration can help us understand complex problems in a deeper, more engaging, and memorable way.
